Amid the ongoing protests by youths and the call for the scrapping of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigerian Police, Nigerian youths have called on John Boyega, British-Nigerian actor and producer to join the clarion call for the safety of citizens
Boyega who spoke on alleged brutality and extrajudicial killings, said Nigerian youths deserve better leadership.
He was reacting to a series of tweets and trending #endsars on social media platforms and protests in different parts of the country.
“The youths in Nigeria deserve good leadership and guidance. This situation is tied to many other issues. Please lend your attention to these pressing problems.
“We can’t simply enjoy Banana island every December without noticing the concrete wall placed between Nigerians and their potential. The limitations become unbearable for them and this needs serious attention.
“Three years ago Nigeria’s police chief re-organised SARS after public condemnation about the violence that came with their operations. That change has done nothing for Nigerians and today many are still in danger”, the actor said.
Going further, UK-based lecturer and Twitter influencer @ogbenidipo called on Boyega and Anthony Joshia to support the movement.
“Dear @anthonyfjoshua and @JohnBoyega, you protested, and supported the Black Lives Matter movement.
Please tweet about #EndSARS and #EndPoliceBrutality in Nigeria Flag of Nigeria.
If you keep retweeting, they might see this, tweet about it, and BBC, Sky News and CNN might pick it up.”
Then the actor replied; “I’m on it sir!”.
If you keep retweeting, they might see this, tweet about it, and BBC, Sky News and CNN might pick it up.
