1999 Constitutional Review: South East Zonal Public Hearing


The purpose of this hearing was based on a proposed alteration of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The event was chaired by the Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremmadu (Ikeoha) and was organized by the Speaker Enugu house Of Assembly Hon. Edward Ubosi (Ozege).

Highlights of the event includes: the Chairman’s opening remark and he was the opinion that though as law makers, the input of the people matters a lot in the legislature.

The governor during his welcome address supported the amendment of the 1999 Nigeria constitution in order to enhance peace, progress and unity in the country.

In the event were also traditional rulers, individuals and other non-governmental organizations who all appealed that certain amendments should be done to protect the rights of the people.

The event which started at 10:00am Wednesday 26th of May 2021, came to a successful end at around 3:00pm to be continued the following day by 9:00am at the same venue.
