Some prominent Nigerians and groups in Nigeria have continued endorsing Bola Tinubu as the next president of the country.
The latest group to adopt Tinubu as its candidate for the 2023 polls is the Muslim Rights Concern.
The group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, noted that Tinubu has all it takes to govern Nigeria effectively.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has declared its support for the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
MURIC’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, made the declaration in a statement posted on the forum’s website, adding that Tinubu has all it takes to preside over Nigeria.
He also urged the Yoruba nation to jettison separatist tendencies and ethnic hostilities and focus on its quest to regain power at the centre in the 2023 polls.
Part of the statement read:
“It is on record that the Yoruba have complained bitterly about marginalization. This has resulted in the emergence of separatist groups calling for the establishment of Oduduwa Republic.
“Fortunately, the Yoruba do not have to search too far as a former governor of Lagos state and leader of the ruling party has shown interest. Here is a candidate that brandishes impeccable pedigree.
“Nobody can deny his political dexterity. He is known to have fought and won several political battles. The best the Yoruba people can do for the region is to rally behind this candidate and ensure that he clinches power in 2023.
“Powershift to the south has become mandatory as President Muhammadu Buhari would have spent eight complete years by 2023 and all eyes are presently on the southwest.”
Similarly, the Oluwo of Iwo in Osun state, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has described Tinubu as the most qualified politician to succeed President Buhari in 2023.
The monarch made the comment while speaking at the launching of South West Agenda (SWAGA) in Osogbo, Osun state on Tuesday, January 19.
He said Tinubu is a visionary leader who has all it takes to rule to succeed the president in 2023, even as he encouraged Yorubas to always rally round their leaders.
Meanwhile, a former governor of Kano state and current chairman, Senate committee on Independent Electoral Commission, Senator Kabiru Gaya has expressed his desire for the southern region of the country to produce the next president of Nigeria.
The senator representing Kano south senatorial district in the National Assembly said that with the completion of President Buhari’s eight-year tenure in 2023, it would be unfair for the north to vie for the nation’s number one position again.
