26 killed as mob, bandits clash in Zamfara

NO fewer than 26 persons were killed yesterday morning after clashes between bandits and mob in Kabaje and Tunga communities of Kauran Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the attacks occurred around 5a.m.

Reports said the attacks were triggered by a mob’s attack, which killed a bandit’s wife, their errand boy, one Anas and a child.

The bandits later mobilised and killed 23 persons in a reprisal attack.

Anas, who is said to be a resident of Unguwar Sarki in Kabaje, was suspected to be one of the informants to the bandits.

Chairman of Kauran Namoda local government Alhaji Lawal Abdullahi confirmed the incident.

Also, Police Public Relations Officer, Zamfara State Command, Muhammad Shehu, a superintendent of police, confirmed the incident.

The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police Celestine Okoye has dispatched a team of mobile policemen to the area.

Shehu revealed that investigation is ongoing.
