Andrea Pirlo is not impressed with Juventus players after they lost at home to Fiorentina
The manager has cited the holidays as a reason for his player’s poor show on the pitch
Reigning Serie A champions Juventus have now dropped to fourth position on the Serie A standings
Andrea Pirlo has criticised his players following the shock 0-3 loss to Florentina at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Tuesday night, December 22.
The defeat was the Old Lady’s heaviest since the 2020-2021 campaign kicked off in the ninth month of the outgoing year.
It left manager Andrea Pirlo questioning his player’s attitude as the festive season approaches as they are now left in fourth position on the Serie A standings.
According to the tactician, his players are already in holiday mood, but refused to apportion blames in any of the stars.
Pirlo said, as cited in GOAL:
“What happened with the red card cannot be used as an alibi. The result was not down to Fiorentina’s attitude but the lack of ours.
“When this is the case you face bad situations like this. In games before Christmas it can happen then you have your mind on the holidays. We were unfocused and could not recover.
“The images for the sending off seem clear to me. There could have been some decisions in our favor, but that’s not something I want to comment on – you can see for yourself.”
Ronaldo who was on target twice in Juventus’ 4-0 win over Parma over the weekend failed to hit the back of the net in the game.
The five-time Champions League winner is barely four goals away from becoming the player with the most official goals in the history of football.
As it stands, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward has 756 goals – just two behind legendary Josef Bican and Pele with 757 and 759 respectively.
