A woman, Shade Ajayi, has been commended for going after education despite how advanced she is in age.

A student of Ilorin Grammar School, the woman was pictured among her classmates as she focused on note taking. The ex-vice president of Nigeria said her life is a lesson to the country, that the significance of education cannot be overemphasised.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday, April 23, praised the 50-year-old woman who is enrolled at Ilorin Grammar School in Kwara state.

Sharing photos of the woman on his Instagram page, Atiku said that Shade’s life shows all that getting an education can never be too late for anybody.

Speaking further, Atiku argued that the country needs education to unlock its “huge potentials”. He added that when the country gets education right, many things will become better.

In one of the snaps, the woman raised up her hand as a student would when wanting to ask a question. She is seated undaunted among pupils who are way younger than her.

Another photo showed her in her shop as makes bags. In a third snap, the woman posed in a reading manner in a place that looks like the school’s library.

Her son named Chima Onwumere took to Facebook to make the announcement as he celebrated his mum.

He narrated how his mum had rung him sometime last year informing him of her intent to return to school as she didn’t get the opportunity to do so earlier because she married young. Plus, she had to direct her attention to her family and her children’s future.
