Boko Haram insurgents kill 5 IDPs in Borno, others missing

Not less than five Internally Displaced Persons were killed by Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday, February 21, in the Damboa local government area of Borno state.

According to a local vigilante in the area, Abu Damboa, the slain persons went in search of firewood in the morning of Sunday but never returned.

Damboa said a search operation was conducted in which they discovered five bodies not far from the camp.

He said:

“We got the report to that some IDPs were missing. So, we swang into action but later found five of them killed two kilometers away from the scene where they were falling trees.

“It was disheartening to see fellow human beings slain like animals, they were all displaced persons.”

Confirming this, a humanitarian source who spoke on condition of anonymity said:

“Information received was that eight IDPs who went in search of firewood outside Damboa town some 6-8kms were abducted. Five dead bodies out of the eight missing IDPs were recovered this morning.”
