The president of the Ndi Oganiru Enugu, a group created to ensure the smooth governance of Enugu, Engr. Jude Asogwa Chinedu have called on the Enugu state Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to act on the arrest of Senator Ike Ekweremadu to secure his bail and return to the country.

The President who made this known in a statement made available to UGAMATV expressed his shock over the manner the state government was handling such a crucial issue saying that “We use this medium to call on the governor of our state RT Hon. Ifeanyi ugwuanyi who also happens to be our Grand patron to act fast and call on all the south east governors to find a way of getting our patron His Excellency Prof Sen. Ike Ekweremadu CFR out of detection in the UK.

“It baffles us that till now Enugu state have not called an emergency meeting of south east governors’ forum and southeast stakeholders meeting to find a way of approaching the Federal government to bail an illustrious son and its senator. The state’s check on the family is not enough, with all due respect we need the state to take the bull by the horn because we know that if the reverse was the case, it will not be like this.

Enumerating some of the good works the senator has done for his people, he said “We appeal to all sons and daughters of south east to wake up and know that Ikeoha have been fighting the cause of Igbo Nation. It’s on record that Ikeoha gave out scholarships to over 10,000 sons and daughters of ndi Igbo through Ikeoha foundation. Ikeoha have assisted our people uncountable times to get Federal jobs. It is also on record that Ikeoha is the only Senator in south east that his consistency projects can be compared with the State government’s.

Calling on the country’s attorney general, Malami and the ECOWAS to also act fast and stop remaining silent, he added “We also call on the attorney general of the federation to use the same process they used in getting a Nigerian lady arrested for drug related offence or are we not all Nigerians or does it mean that some are more Nigerian than others.

“We also call on ECOWAS as a matter of urgency to call on the UK to release its former speaker in the person of His Excellency Prof Sen. Ike Ekweremadu CFR IKEOHA. Because it’s becoming clearer that he is being held in the UK for nothing.

Showing their disappointment over hpw the UK government is handling the issue involving a prominent Nigerian, Asogwa said “it surprises us that you had a new law on organ donation and His Excellency Prof Sen. Ike Ekweremadu wrote to your country through your embassy. It is expected that you guide him by either rejecting the visa or guide him on steps to get it right as your new law states on it.

“One gets more confused that you offered David the visa and when he got to the UK you now arrested Prof. Ike Ekweremadu CFR. Were you not meant to guide or deny him Visa? Now David said he is a minor, you have confirmed that his is an adult who can make his own decisions. David also acknowledge that there was no pressure from Ike Ekweremadu to him, neither was he induced. David said he is an orphan it was discovered that his parents are very much alive.

“David said he was picked up from the street of Lagos but it was discovered that he deals on phones. David said he didn’t attend school, his waec results confirms that he finished his secondary school education. What a pathetic liar. We learnt that David went to the Police on his own to report and we ask who took him there. David is also asking Federal Government through his lawyer not to release his data to Sen. Ike Ekweremadu for defense, and we ask who is using David against Prof. Sen. Ekweremadu? Because is very clear there more to the whole issues.

“With all due respect to the UK government if all this lies were told by His Excellency Prof Sen Ike Ekweremadu CFR by now I wonder what would have been the Senator’s fate. Rumors have been flying that UK government have been paid to keep His Excellency Prof Sen Ike Ekweremadu CFR IKEOHA GLOBAL till after 2023 election or even kill him if possible. We don’t want to believe that because it’s a rumor.

“We ask the UK after all the facts, you are still keeping a former Deputy Senate President, former Deputy speaker and speaker of ECOWAS with a diplomatic passport and a serving senator in a sovereign nation in your country. His Excellency Prof Sen Ike Ekweremadu CFR (IKEOHA GLOBAL) and David ukpo expected the federal government through the office of the Minister of foreign affairs and attorney general of the federation to even request the transfer of the case to Nigeria.

“We call on UK to as a matter of urgency to release Ike Ekweremadu. UK government should know that we are very much aware that a bail was given to his Excellency Prof Sen Ike Ekweremadu CFR (IKEOHA GLOBAL) and the wife, the bail condition that was extremely difficult was met and the UK government refused granting both of them bail.

“Why a Nigerian Senator would be held because he is trying to save the ailing daughter and he wrote to you in clear terms the purpose of his travel and the intention because there was no negative intent.

“We Ndi Oganiru Enugu State who are in the 36 states of Nigeria and 16 countries of the world, call on the UK government to release His Excellency Prof Sen Ike Ekweremadu CFR (IKEOHA GLOBAL) because the whole world is watching.

Appealing to the president Mohammed Buhari for his assistance, he said that “His Excellency should assist us and get one of his best senators out. Sen. Ike Ekweremadu is one of the major brain behind the new electoral law that is now giving Nigerians hope again in democracy or is he suffering for making sure that democracy would be practiced in Nigeria as it should?

“Finally, we urge our members to be law abiding as usual. The Egyptians we see today we shall see no more”, Asogwa concluded.
