Breaking News: Nigerian Troops Neutralize ISWAP Terrorists, Destroy Camps In Borno


The Nigerian forces have recorded another victory against terrorists of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) operating in Borno State.

As confirmed on the official Twitter handle of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday morning, Troops of Operation Desert Sanity and the Civilian Joint Task Forces carried out an offensive raid in Borno communities to get rid of the terror groups.

The Army Headquarters said the troops during the ongoing operation, destroyed camps and a market belonging to the terrorists while they also killed some of the fighters on sight.

The army had shared images from the successful operation on its social media page with the caption, “Ongoing offensive onslaught by troops of Operation Desert Sanity in conjunction with CJTF recorded another feat on 14 June 2022 as ISWAP terrorists were neutralised around Gurzum in Borno State. Terrorists’ markets & camps were destroyed. Weapons amongst others were recovered.”

Meanwhile, residents of Taraba State have cried out over the mysterious disappearance of some children in the Wakari Local Government Area of the State.

Some women who spoke to Punch on the incessant disappearance of their children which started in April said they recently staged a protest over the sad incident.

Sharing her ordeal, a woman identified as Patience Asoga said two of her children have been missing since 24th April 2022 and the matter have been reported to the Department of State Service but nothing has been heard regarding the investigation.

She said: “I travelled to Ibi and left the children in the house with other family members. When I came back they were nowhere to be found and I was told none of them left the house.”

“Initially, we thought they were sleeping and that was how the children got missing till date.”

“We have reported the matter to the police and Department of State Services but we have not heard from them regarding their investigation.”
