Buhari, Kalu, Sanwo-Olu hail Mustapha at 66


President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, congratulated the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha, who turned 66 today, Sunday, September 4.

In a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, President Buhari described Mustapha as a political leader and diligent public servant, and applauded his dedication to nation-building since his youthful days in the 80s. 

Buhari further commended the SGF for ensuring the fluidity of ideas, teamwork, and harmony, and efficient transition of policies into gains for Nigerians, adding that his historic leadership roles, like chairing the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, would stand him out for recognition.

In his own tribute, a former governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr.Orji Kalu, described Mustapha as a seasoned public administrator and consummate politician.

While acknowledging his robust contributions to President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, Kalu noted that Mustapha had demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in various capacities. 

In his congratulatory message, Kalu said: “I felicitate with the SGF, Mr Boss Mustapha as he turns 66. The SGF has sustained his loyalty to the country by consistently contributing meritoriously to nation building in different capacities.

“The celebrant deserves commendation for complementing the efforts of President Buhari in building a prosperous Nigeria.

“The leadership attributes of the SGF are remarkable and worthy of emulation.

“I wish the celebrant longer years in the service of humanity.”

Kalu also extended his greetings to the family, friends and associates of the SGF.

Similarly, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his congratulatory message described Mustapha as an accomplished technocrat, lawyer, politician and public officer with tremendous passion for the growth and development of Nigeria.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Mustapha’s commitment to the promotion of progressive ideology and the success of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress, APC government in Nigeria, saying the former deputy national chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) remains a formidable and visionary leader in the ruling party.

He said the SGF had done a lot for the country in different capacities through selfless service to his home state, Adamawa and Nigeria. The governor noted that Mustapha displayed pragmatic leadership and patriotism as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 during the pandemic period, working tirelessly with the high-level committee to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

His words: “Mr. Boss Mustapha has served Adamawa State and Nigeria passionately and demonstrated a high level of patriotism through selfless service and commitment to our party and Nigeria in different capacities before being appointed as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in 2017.

 “His visionary and inclusive leadership style has continued to strengthen the ruling All Progressives Congress and the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, with remarkable results in critical sectors.

 “I wish Mr. Boss Mustapha many more years of good health, long life, God’s protection, and greater service to the nation. I pray that God will grant him the grace to grow in good health as he renders more service to our party, his home State and Nigeria.”
