COVID-19: Dr. (Mrs) Oby Igwesi shares palliatives


Ugoeze Oby Igwesi (PhD) Commends Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his efforts in fighting Covid-19 in Enugu State

As Enugu State government is making efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, many good spirited individuals have continued to share food items to the vulnerable members of the society to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the citizens.

Ugoeze Oby Igwesi (PhD), who is the wife of the traditional ruler of Omuoha Autonomous Community, HRH Igwe Obiora Igwesi (Chinawaeze III of Obuoffia, and Igwe Omuoha), distributed 100 (10kg) bags of rice and 25 cartons of noodles to the less privileged people in Obuoffia Awkunanaw.

While performing the traditional breaking of kolanut, HRH Eze (Barr) Igwesi Obiora Igwesi thanked God for giving his wife the enablement to give palliatives to the downtrodden members of Obuoffia Awkunanaw.

He prayed for more of God’s wisdom upon the Council Chairman whom he described as a sincere man of peace.

In her address, Dr. Oby Igwesi who was a former member of Enugu State PPSMB and currently the Registrar of Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo stated that she is so much concerned about the poorest members of the society, especially the elderly.

Oby noted that there is no better time to show love and kindness to humanity than now. She thanked her husband, Igwe Obiora Igwesi for supporting her to give the little she has to the less privileged.

She also thanked the Council Chairman for his excellent performance so far and prayed that God will continue to elevate him politically.

Lolo Oby while extolling Governor Ugwuanyi for all the efforts he is making to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Enugu State, described Ugwuanyi as a gender sensitive governor.

Speaking at the ocassion, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West LG, Chief Nwabueze Nnamani (Ikeoha), thanked Lolo Oby Igwesi for joining the campaign against hungervirus.

The LG Boss reminded the people of Obuoffia Awkunanaw that Coronavirus “is a deadly disease that does not recognize age, sex, size or wealth.

While commending the beneficiaries for observing physical distancing in their sitting arrangement, the Chairman advised the people of Obuoffia Awkunanaw to develop the habit of washing their hands with soap and running water as often as possible.

Ikeoha noted that “COVID-19 pandemic is akin to a war situation, but in this case, no gun is being fired but people are dying like flies.” He stated that Dr Oby Igwesi has demonstrated the war spirit of “onye aghana nwanne ya”.

Chief Nwabueze used the opportunity to thank Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for being in the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

He shared face masks and hand sanitizers to all the people that attended the event.

In a vote of thanks, Barr Emeka Igwesi appreciated the Council Chairman for his simplicity and open door policy. He urged him not to relent in his service to humanity.

Other notable personalities who came to observe the event are the Enugu State PDP woman leader, Lady Vera Ezugwu, PDP zonal ex-officio and Enugu State Chairman of Nigeria Legion, Barr Emeka Igwesi, the SAs to the Chairman of Nkanu West LG, Hon (Engr) Buchi Nnaji (Media), Hon Darlington Nnamani (Youths and Sports), Hon Sunday Nnaji (Health), the Igwe’s cabinet.
