The presidential task force on COVID-19 has raised concerns over the reopening of schools amid the pandemic.
The national incident manager of the taskforce, Mukhtar Muhammed urged schools to strictly abide by the COVI-19 guidelines.
The task force on a daily basis notifies Nigerians about rising cases of the disease.
The Nigerian government said schools across the country may be shut again if COVID-19 positive cases continue to rise.
The presidential task force on COVID-19 made the statement in a video posted on its Twitter handle on Monday, February 1.

“Now, the PTF is watching this very closely, we are monitoring what is going on and if we find out that cases continue to rise in the country and we start to have incidences in schools, certainly, we will have the schools closed.’’
Muhammed stated that the reopening of schools across the country should have been delayed till a later date.
He, however, stated that the task force is monitoring academic institutions across the country to ensure that they all comply with the COVID-19 safety measures.
