Edo guber: Obaseki does not deserve second term, says Ogiemwonyi

Governor Godwin Obaseki has been described as an ungrateful man.
This is the position of Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi who is an aspirant in the Edo governorship election under the APC. Ogiemwonyi said the attitude of the governor towards his benefactor, Adams Oshiomhole, is a show of ingratitude.
An aspirant in the forthcoming Edo state governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi has said that Governor Godwin Obaseki should not be allowed to fly the party’s flag during the September 19 election.
Ogiemwonyi, a former minister of state for works, said the governor was foisted on Edo people in 2016, adding that he does not deserve a second term in office if the state must progress.
According to him, Governor Obaseki was not in the political calculation in Edo state in 2016, until Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, then state governor, supported him.
His words: “The shock I had was the then governor (Oshiomhole) said it was Obaseki. Obaseki wasn’t a player in 2016. It was between myself and Odubu. They couldn’t vote for me because of the body language of the governor. ”Godwin did not campaign.
Oshiomhole gave him so much gratitude but he has shown a lot of ingratitude to Oshiomhole. He got that job without a sweat.” Despite Ogiemwonyi’s stance, Governor Obaseki seems to be getting support from some key stakeholders in Edo politics.

One of such people is a former Edo state commissioner of information, who is also a former aide to Oshiomhole, Chief Charles Idahosa. Idahosa alleged that Governor Obaseki is facing opposition within the APC because he refused to part with some money.
According to him, those fighting Obaseki under the acronym of Edo Peoples Movement led by Oshiomhole are determined to oust Obaseki because he refused to share the state’s resources to them.
In a related development, a group of professionals known as Edo Good Governance Group (E3G) have backed Governor Obaseki in his ongoing effort to return for a second term. After a meeting on Wednesday, June 3, the group called on all Edo people to rally round the governor to ensure that Oshiomhole, “does not impose his cronies on the state through an ambush.”
