Belongings worth about N6,785,124,570 were said to have been saved from 49 fire incidents from January to November in Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states.
A statement from Zone A Fire Service Headquarters in Makurdi showed that N317,362, 508 estimated property loss was also recorded during the period under review.
A breakdown indicates that of the N49,964,970 losses, Benue accounts for N232,362,500, with Nasarawa State bearing N85,000.
The statement signed by the Chief Fire Superintendent, CP Olusegun Oladunni, indicated that of the cases, six were public buildings while 42 were private houses.
“Sources of the fire are high voltage from the Power Holding Company of Nigeria; electrical spark; accident, arson, automobile, electrical equipment and candle.”
