Senator Orji Kalu, the former Abia state governor has reacted to a prophesy that he’d succeed Buhari in 2023, saying he does not believe in prophesies.
Senator Orji Kalu has dismissed a prophecy from a clergyman suggesting that the former governor (Kalu) would emerge as Buhari’s successor in 2023.
The ex-governor of Abia state, in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, said his religious beliefs do not support claims of seeing visions. Kalu also stated that he currently has no ambition to become president, but will gladly lead Nigeria if given the opportunity to do so. He said: “I am a Catholic. In the Catholic church, we don’t see visions. Well, if visions are being seen, and people say this and that, if it is the will of God that I will become president, why not? I am very capable mentally and otherwise to do whatever Nigerian people want me to do but not through prophecy.’’
When asked about his views on the calls for a southeast president from Igbo extraction, the lawmaker said the idea was just because the region has not produced a Nigerian president before.
Meanwhile, the apex Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo (worldwide), has expressed optimism that the southeast would get the presidency in 2023. It was reported that the group’s president-general, Prof. George Obiozor, stated this on Monday, April 19, at a press conference in Abuja. He said their differences and divergent views would not rob the Igbo of the presidency in 2023.
