The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the collapse of a three-storey building in the state capital, Port Harcourt.
The incident happened at the popular Bende street in old Port Harcourt township, Rivers State.
When contacted, the Police Command Public Relations Officer, Fringe Grace Koko told reporters that there was nobody in the building before it collapsed.
An eyewitness who spoke with Leakblast.com on the development said the building that was constructed several decades ago, caved in at about 2.00 am on Wednesday.
He told journalists there was no one occupying the building before its collapse.
“The building was one of the oldest buildings in Port Harcourt known as a colonial building. I believe it’s one of the abandoned properties in Port Harcourt after the civil war. It caved in at about 2.00 am Wednesday but no life was lost. There were no occupants in the building as of the time it collapsed” the witness was quoted as saying.

This is coming barely a month after a three-storey building collapsed at the popular Kantin Kwari textiles market in Kano state.
Leakblast.com understands that one person died in the incident and another one was injured.
An eyewitness told reporters that they did not know what caused the collapse, but the building was under construction.
