Health One dies as Nigeria records 41 cases of monkeypox

Dr Ifedayo Adetifa, Director General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), says one person has died of monkeypox, with 41 confirmed cases recorded in the country this year.

He made the revelation on Monday during the Federal Ministry of Health’s bi-weekly COVID-19 update in Abuja.

According to him, there had been no evidence of any new or unusual transmission of the virus nor changes in its clinical manifestation documented in Nigeria, as compared to other countries.

He explained, “No death had been recorded from COVID-19 in the last five weeks.”
