I Ran Away From Home Because my father Wanted me to become a Mechanic: Taribo West

Taribo West has ,in a recent award-giving event, narrated his struggles growing up to become a footballer, revealing that he had to run away from home to fulfil his dreams as a player
The central defender played for some of the biggest clubs in France, Italy, England and Serbia. Taribo West no doubt is the most successful Nigerian defender that played in Europe but his success story about how he lived the dream is simply interesting.
The former Nigerian international said he ran away from his father’s house after being told he was going to be a roadside mechanic. The center-half fled home from his base at Port-Harcourt all the way down to Lagos in a quest to achieve his dreams as a footballer.
He went on to play 42 times for Nigeria including making an appearance at the France 98′ World Cup as well as AFCON 2000 and 2002 tournaments respectively. Taribo was recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Our Moment Newspaper as he narrated his success story.
