JUST IN: Tobi Amusan Wins World Athletics Championships Gold For Nigeria

The 25-year-old track and field athlete, Oluwatobiloba Ayomide, better known as Tobi Amusan, made Nigerians proud over the weekend after becoming the first citizen to win a World Athletics Championship gold in the women’s 100m hurdles in Eugene, Oregon.

Amusan battled in the front line to beat Jamaica’s Britany Anderson, who ended with Silver in 12.23 seconds and Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, who settled for bronze in 12.23 seconds.

She added: “The goal is always just to execute well and get the win. So, the world record is a bonus. I knew I had it in me but I could not believe it when I saw it on the screen after the semis.
