NERC: No New Approval For Electricity Tariff Increase In Nigeria

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says it has not granted any fresh approval for the increase of electricity tariff in Nigeria.

The commission stated that what is been termed a new/increased tariff by the electricity distribution companies is the approval granted since December 31, 2021, but which only became effective in February 2022.

The chairman of NERC, Mr. Sanusi Garba made the clarification on Friday in a chat with newsmen in Abuja.

Leakblast.com reports there had been outcries from Nigerians following the news that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved tariff increases for six power distribution companies (DisCos).
