Barely three weeks before the February 25 general elections, no fewer than 2,000 registered members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo Central senatorial district of Ondo State have declared their support for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The decampees who are mainly youths pledged to ensure that Hon Seun Majasan, the senatorial candidate of the NNPP in Ondo Central senatorial district wins the senatorial district with a maximum number of votes.
Majasan while speaking on the development said the defectors who are mainly youths from the APC and PDP were in addition to the party’s numerous supporters drawn from support groups across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
According to him, leaders of the defected youths held an emergency meeting with him on Monday in Akure where they pledged to work for his victory and that of the NNPP in the forthcoming polls.

“The list of the decampees has been submitted to me to ensure a hitch-free programme during their defection programme next week. They are now with us. All souvenirs of our party, NNPP have been given to them. Next week’s open declaration of the defectors is just for appearance’s sake.
“It is also true that we have been holding meetings with them since about a month now and we were able to reach and finalize all arrangements.
“Let me tell you that the defectors had made the best choice in the interest of the nation and its citizens.
“This is not the best of times for us as Nigerians. These career politicians have mismanaged us to the extent that we have to stand up and demand our nation by all means and I can tell you that NNPP has the answer to the nation’s problems,” he added.
Majasan further stressed that his aim now was to begin “Operation Deliver Your Unit for NNPP” saying that the party has been able to map out strategies to ensure success in Ondo Central senatorial district.
