The Lagos-born athlete Anuoluwapo Opeyori believes the tie against the Japanese has put them in the right frame of mind to confront the Danish side.
After losing 2-0 to host Japan in their first group B match of badminton event of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Anuoluwapo Opeyori believes playing against the Asian giant has prepared them for the Danish side in their second group match.
“Playing against the Japanese was a fantastic experience being one first outing at the Olympic Games and I think we learnt a lot from the match and we hope we can make use of what we learnt in our next match.
Our next match is against Denmark, we hope to raise the tempo by taking point by point because it is one step at a time. We cannot really plan for the Danish side because we had not played against them before but we will surely give all our best against them,” the 2020 National Sports Festival champion added. He, however, described the Games Village experience as a lifetime opportunity especially after meeting sports stars like Novak Djokovic.
“Games Village is quite fun and I have met a lot of stars like Djokovic and I can tell you that the atmosphere has been awesome”he said.
