The examination set by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for chairmanship aspirants in Kaduna state has left 38 persons declared unsuitable to contest for the election while 75 others scaled through to participate in the Not fewer than 38 out of the over 100 aspirants who participated in failed.
Leakblast reported that the examination was part of the party’s screening exercise for aspirants ahead of its primaries slated for Wednesday, May 5.
Reacting to the development, one of the candidates that were declared unsuitable for the chairmanship position, Mohammed Sani Abdulmajid, described the process as unfortunate.
He claimed he secured 52.8 per cent yet he was said to be unsuitable while other aspirants from other LGAs with fewer marks were said to be suitable.
Abdulmajid said he has filed a complaint before the appeal committee.
Also, the head of the campaign team of Comrade Musa Dan’azumi, another aspirant, Comrade Lawal Chanchangi, said there was no justice in the selection process as they also rejected the result.
Dan’azumi said his candidate will participate in the primaries.
One of the candidates declared suitable, Ibrahim Ismail of Kaduna South LG, gave thanks to God for successfully scaling through the examination.
Ismail, however, said he was not surprised with the outcome. He commended the members of the committee for a job well done.
Meanwhile, the APC spokesman in the state, Salisu Tanko Wosono, said the party was not aware of any complaint filed by any aspirant.
In its report of the development, Leakblast described the written exams set for the chairmanship aspirants as the first in the history of Nigeria.
In other news, the Kaduna House of Assembly has declared the seat of Aminu Abdullahi Shagali representing the Sabon Gari constituency vacant.
The House took the decision during plenary on Tuesday, April 27, according to information shared on its official Twitter handle.
The state assembly accused the sacked lawmaker of absconding from all legislative activities for more than a year without any reason.
