Religion Should Not Be Part of Constitution

Some participants in the 1999 Constitutional Review South East Zone held in Enugu has called for religion to be made a private and personal matter in lieu of making it part of the constitution.

 

One of them, Comfort Otera Chigbue who is the director, legal and public affairs to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said that citizens should not be label according to religion.

The legal practitioner also stressed the need to ensure protection of human rights, create more states especially in the south east and to ensure the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.
