The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari’s conversation with Super Eagles star, Kenneth Omeruo in Spain has been revealed.
Leakblast.com had reported earlier that the Nigerian leader on Tuesday arrived in Madrid, the Spanish capital, at 10:00 pm, Central European Summer Time.
President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina had revealed earlier that “During his engagements with both leaders, the Nigerian President will discuss issues of mutual interest to both countries, which will expectedly result in the signing of Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding on a wide range of topics geared towards further enhancing the bilateral relations between the two nations.”
“Such areas include Extradition and transfer of convicted persons, Mutual Legal Assistance, Cultural Matters, Cooperation towards fighting crime and enhancing security, as well as issues affecting dependants of diplomatic staff.
“Also on the agenda are Cooperation on Energy, Trade and Investment, Transportation, Public Health and Sports Development.”
Sharing details of his principal’s tour in Spain, Adesina in a statement on Thursday (today) said President Buhari was elated when Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa introduced Super Eagles and Spanish club player, Kenneth Omeruo to him.
“I know him. I always see him on TV, with his peculiar hairstyle,” Adesina quoted President Buhari as saying.
In his response, Omeruo reportedly thanked the President for his support to the Super Eagles.
The Nigerian player also presented President Buhari with an autographed football, a Jersey of his team, Leganes FC of Madrid, and a jersey of the Super Eagles.
“An appreciative President told the footballer that as a student, he didn’t play much of football because of his lean stature, “but I felt safer with hockey since I had a stick I could use to defend myself,” Adesina quoted his principal as saying during the conversation.
Adesina added: “The expedition to Spain by President Buhari was very successful on all fronts. Our President did the country proud, represented well, and brought us glory. Why shouldn’t we then flaunt him? We must ‘buga,’ and showcase our leader, no matter what those who cavil say”.
