UPDATED: Students protest in Osun over electricity, petrol hike, others

Students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) on Tuesday protested in Osogbo capital of Osun State against the hike in electricity tariff, petrol price, Cable TV subscription among others.

The protesters in their numbers converged at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old Garage around 9:30 AM. Security Operatives including the Directorate of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps were on the ground to maintain law and order.

The students who were joined with the #Revolution now a movement in solidarity were chanting anti-government songs with placards in their hands. The inscriptions on the placards read: NANS says no to hike in PMS pump price, No to hike electricity tariff, don’t ruin our democracy, Reverse PMS Price amongst others.
