As the Christmas holidays are fast approaching, the United States has again asked its citizens to exercise caution while residing or travelling to Nigeria.
Leakblast.com gathered that the American Embassy revealed this in a new security alert posted on its website on Wednesday, December 16.
In the security alert published, the US warned its citizens that during the holiday period issues of insecurity ranging from petty street crime to carjacking may increase in the West African country.
The statement also highlighted several places such as clubs, restaurants, shopping mall, religious centres, transport hubs as likely areas for terrorists to target.
American citizens were further told to be also wary as westerners are targeted in such areas as they frequent those public places.
The statement further said that criminal and other elements often infiltrate large gatherings.
The embassy and consulate advised Americans to keep a low profile, review their personal security plans, and to avoid large gatherings and protests.
