Why I Handed Power to My Deputy – Zulum

The Borno state governor, Babagana Umaru Zulum has explained why his deputy of the state Umar Kadafur, will serve as acting governor for 21 days.

The new development has gotten the backing of the Borno House of Assembly. Governor Babagana Zulum is expected to assume leadership in the state when he returns from his vacation.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has handed power over to his deputy, to serve as acting governor from April 29 to May 19.

Leakblast reports reported that lawmakers in Borno have given approval for Deputy Governor Umar to serve in that capacity after Zulum made the request in a letter dated April 26.

According to Malam Isa Gusau, Zulum’s spokesman, the governor sought approval of the house to go on a 21-day vacation.

Meanwhile, following the incessant abduction and killings of innocent Nigerians, some governors and senators have expressed great concerns about the ugly incidents.

Leakblast reported that the prominent Nigerians on Tuesday, April 27, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to seek foreign help in order to end insecurity in the country.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; his Niger state counterpart, Sani Bello, and Samuel Ortom of Benue state, warned that insecurity in the country was getting out of control.

They urged the federal government to act fast as 21 people were killed across the country on Tuesday, April 27.

In another news, Barely one week after his country home was razed by yet-to-be-arrested gunmen in the Omuma area of Imo state, Governor Hope Uzodinma, has said that aggrieved politicians were sponsoring militants to make the state ungovernable.

Leakblast reported that the governor said on Saturday, May 1, that the attack on his home on Saturday, April 24, which left some security aides dead, was one of the ploys by the enemies to paint a wrong picture about the state.
