World leaders are beginning to arrive in Brussels ahead of the NATO, G7 and EU meetings


Boris Johnson, Canada’s Justin Trudeau and France’s Emmanuel Macron are among the world leaders to have already arrived in Brussels, as the international community attempts to ramp up pressure on Russia.

Mr Johnson explained this morning that NATO will be looking at ways to halt Vladimir Putin using his gold reserves, as Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged leaders to step up over the conflict.

The response to chemical weapons and the dispatch of additional troops to Poland will be on the table, as will the prospect of more sanctions.

We’re expecting US President Joe Biden to arrive around 9am, after he decided to make the journey from Washington to take part in the talks today.

We’ve heard a lot about things being “unprecedented” recently, but a G7, NATO and EU meeting on the same day is unheard of, and could prove pivotal in the crisis.
