With Nigerian social space getting more intense due to the arrival of the Yuletide season and preparation for the New Year, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reeled-out safety and precautionary security measures.

The measures were contained in a tweet by the force on Wednesday, December 23, aimed at helping those planning to travel by land (train and vehicles) and air to keep guard.

Yuletide period in Nigeria, especially in major cities like Lagos and Abuja, always comes with extreme excitement and anxiety. Some have always used the opportunity to perpetuate their mischiefs.

In order to avoid being on the other side of time, the police have urged Nigerians to follow these security tips.

2. Hold your bag firmly

Whether handbags or arm bags, travellers are urged to firmly hold their bags to avoid being easily snatched or loss of vital personal belongings.

3. Make calls as private as you can

Travellers are also urged to avoid making calls in the public. This will prevent unnecessary attraction at motor parks or airports.

4. Handle your cash transaction calls discretely

Travellers are also advised to handle transaction calls with care in order to avoid being trailed by people trying to perpetrate evils.

5. Don’t accept food items or drink from strangers

In this regards, travellers are cautioned against creating unnecessary familiarity with strangers or collecting food or drinks from them.

6. Don’t discuss your private life with strangers

Just like the 5th tip, travellers are urged to avoid discussing private matters with complete strangers.

This is one of the ways to protect one’s privacy and avoid exposing one’s life to self-sought danger.
