Zimbabwean president set to miss Queen’s funeral


Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa will be represented by his foreign affairs minister at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London next week, the state news agency reports.

A senior government official is quoted as saying that President Mnangagwa will be leaving for the UN General Assembly on the day.

The same official confirmed that an invitation to Monday’s funeral was sent to President Mnangagwa.

Earlier, the British High Commission in Zimbabwe dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media which claimed the president was not invited to the funeral.
